Join me in remembering Bob Perry through Wheeling for Healing!
Twelve years ago, I joined a committee, spearheaded by Bruce Mainville and Howard Natenshon, to put together a bicycle ride to benefit Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Wheeling for Healing has since become the hospital’s fund-raiser for our wonderful Oncology Department.
This year’s ride will be particularly meaningful, as we are remembering Bob Perry, of Bicycles Unlimited, a key supporter and advisor for Wheeling for Healing. The ride was going to be in his honor; now it is in his memory, due, sadly, to cancer.
Though I didn’t know Bob as well as many other riders (I’m a Trek kid, through and through!), I have known his son Mike, who was my son Raub’s best friend, since they were probably about age 3!! So I am riding this year both in memory of Bob and in sympathy for Mike and his family.
I have set my usual goal of $1000, hopefully for my 12th consecutive year. Thank you so much to those of you who helped me reach my goal in the past. I hope you will continue to support BFMC’s Oncology department through a contribution again this year. I made my own $100 donation; I invite you to join me with a gift of any size; all your gifts add up fast! Together, we can help make a difference in the comfort of our loved ones who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
The easiest way to donate is on line; there will be a link to my page for your convenience. If you prefer to send a check (payable to BFMC Wheeling for Healing), you can send it to me at 9 Holmes Street, Erving, MA 01344. Your donation is tax-deductible; and if you pay on line, you will receive an immediate acknowledgment of your tax-deductible gift.
I also invite you to join us by riding or walking on Sunday, August 25. It’s both a fun and meaningful event; and all funds remain local, benefitting the patients in BFMC’s Oncology Department.
Ride on, Bob Perry!
