Walk of Champions 2019

Lift for Live Event to raise money for Walk of Champions
Lift for Live Event to raise money for Walk of Champions

D&D Fitness Factory

We walk in memory of Donna Goudreau. A member of our family whose laugh was contagious, whose heart was full of compassion, and whose life was centerd around her family, friends and helping others battle cancer. Cancer has definitely touched our lives in a very personal way. The cancer care Donna received locally through the Baystate Regional Cancer Program in Ware was important to Donna and our family during her cancer journey.

With excellent care right in Ware, Donna was able to continue living her day to day life. She not only received her treatments but she also received moral support, love and laughter at the Cancer Care Program. This program should be called 'Total Care' because they address the total person - not just the disease.

D&D Fitness Factory runs a couple of fundraisers during the year to support the Walk of Champions:

  • Lift for Life and 5K Walk/Run
  • Shop for a Cure
Besides our family there are so many dear friends who have been diagnosed with Cancer. Some are fighting and some have lost the battle - all are in our hearts and prayers. So we continue to stand with them and try to help any way we can.

The oncology department in Ware is expanding! The Walk of Champions - started by one person - John O'Neill - is one of the driving forces behind this expansion. It is because of this fundraiser that they have the money needed for the expansion. Talk about the power of one person!

The expansion will be done in two phases to minimize disruption for patients and staff. Phase one is the renovation and expansion of four new exam rooms, and phase two will be the conversion of the existing exam rooms into infusion bays.  First phase is slated for completion in May, and will also include a new nurses station, a centralized mediation room, and an exclusive discharge area. Phase two expected to be completed by end of summer.

We are committed to continue to raise funds for cancer patients and services at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center through the Walk of Champions.

We can’t do this alone – we need your help to reach our fundraising goal. There is strength in numbers and together we can make a difference! All funds raised remain local.

Please make a contribution toward our goal in support of such an outstanding organization. Click on any team member name to donate on their page (the amount you donate to an individual member will also show in our team total). Your donation is fully tax-deductible.

Thank you!
