About Wheeling for Healing

Wheeling for Healing was founded in 2008 by two longtime employees of Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Dr. Howard Natenshon, and Bruce Mainville, who wanted to give their community a way to support the patients they cared so much for.

What began as a group of 130 participants raising $10,000 for their local hospital has grown into a regional event which has raised over $607,000 to support those receiving care throughout all of Baystate Health.

Wheeling for Healing has provided funding for healing programs such as art therapy, writing, and yoga for patients and survivors, support groups for those on the cancer journey as well as their loved ones, and improvements to bedside care to help ensure patients are as comfortable as possible during treatment.

But we're not done yet!

In 2023 Yankee Candle Village partnered with us to to host the Wheeling for Healing, Ride, Walk, and Run. With their support, we'll meet up again on Sunday, May 19, 2024 and set out on great new routes to light the way for cancer survivors.
